FAQs
Curious minds welcome! Here are some answers to the questions we hear most.
We use the popular early childhood platform, Storypark. This allows teachers to send photos and notes of what your child is up to via the Storypark app. You are also welcome to call the centre if you have any concerns and we can update you on how your child is doing, especially if they’re just settling in.
Sure, we are happy to accommodate you with timetable changes if we can. You can simply email us your changes.
Timetable changes will normally commence the following week. We appreciate a minimum of 48hrs notice, if possible, as we will need to check our staff rosters and update our booking system. If the suggested new timetable is going to incur a fee, we will let you know.
Absolutely! We follow what you are doing at home, so let us know when you’re starting the toileting process. Our teachers are happy to remind children to “go” when they have started toilet learning, and have a lot of experience supporting children through this change in their lives.
We ask our parents to consider other parents’ and children’s needs before sending a sick child to daycare. If your child has vomited or had diarrhoea, we ask that they stay home until they have been symptom free for 48 hours, in line with Ministry of Health guidance. If they become unwell while at the centre, we will call you and ask that you arrange for them to go home as soon as possible, preferably within one hour of the call.
We offer families 3 weeks’ “holiday leave” each year at 50% discount, in line with other NZ preschools. If you anticipate a longer absence, please speak with us as your child’s place is not automatically guaranteed after 3 weeks.
Yes they can. Children are not legally required to attend school until they turn 6, and where birthdays occur close to the end of the year many families find it helpful to have preschool care available over the long summer break. In the event your child does start school they will NOT be able to return to preschool over the holidays.
We are open throughout the year, except for statutory holidays and Auckland Anniversary Day.
Please call the centre on 09 8468436 and let us know if you possibly can. Regarding late fees, we like to be lenient if possible - we know how busy life is! For significant or regular lateness, and for pickups/dropoffs outside our opening hours of 7.30am - 6pm we will be forced to charge a fee, as set out in our Fees and Enrolment Policy.
We would be delighted to have your child celebrate their birthday with their friends at preschool. Please speak to teachers in the room concerned to arrange it and check on suitable foods to bring. If you can be available to help with cleaning up afterwards, we do appreciate it. Please remember too that the centre is nut-free, so no nuts on or in your birthday food, please.
We are very happy to support you with cloth nappies. If you supply a suitable wet bag, the dirty nappies will be returned to you in it for laundering.
Yes, they can. We will work with you to develop a health plan which enables them to attend safely and happily.
